And even if one did accept that the text points to a same-sex sexual encounter of some sort after all, Saul responds quite aggressively to the friendship between Are and Jonathanit wouldn't follow from this that the text is lending moral support to that relationship -- any more than the text's acknowledgment of David's role in a murder is tantamount to a defense of killing.

I can see why you'd say that, Theophane. You've probably wondered what the truth behind Harry & David is, or at least why their luxurious boxes of fruit are so expensive. There isn't much debate about this question in traditional biblical hermeneutics: the intimacy language of the texts is seen, there, as expressive of friendship and, in some cases, the covenantal bonds of a treaty.

He means those vocally opposed to homosexuality are closet homosexuals. It's understandable why someone who's gay wishes to explore an angle when there's evidence pointing that way, but it trio de gays have to matter either way.

Not sure how he knows this but who cares about that? The programme (and the talk) discussed the evidence for proposing whether the bible supports a view of the relationship between David and Jonathan as a same sex or homosexual relationship.

Three millennia separate our world from this ancient text and the values of its age. As it turns out, both Harry and David were very real, and they faced a tough road to bring their business to the standing that it enjoys today. Sam was a successful hotelier in Washington state with a passion.
